Leadership, to me, is about:
This election result makes it clear that many people have a very different idea of what leadership looks and feels like. I deeply believe that the best way to counter a vision you don’t agree with is not to spend time arguing with it or pointing out its flaws. That never works and as Toni Morrison says, it "keeps you from doing your work." What we are invited to do instead, in our own little communities, is be an active example of the kind of leadership we do believe in. I think a lot about this Mother Theresa quote: “I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I'll be there.” Strong leadership doesn’t get consumed by what's in the way, it gives people a clear, joyful vision to move toward. I am hopeful that the way we each show up in our communities matters to the people who are watching. And that each time we choose to show up with a courageous vision for the world, we are providing an alternative. As I process the consequences of this result, I’m thinking a lot about how I can share more of the vision of the micro world I want to live in. Leadership matters at every scale. How are you feeling? Reply and let’s chat. |

For entrepreneurs who value integrity and credibility when it comes to selling stuff online, Black Friday/Cyber Monday and the general over-consumerism of the end of the year can be a little hard to navigate. On the one hand, many of our potential members are ready to plan their upcoming year and often have budget to spend. On the other, it’s a time when a lot of us buy stuff we don’t need and never use. Hey friends, When you’re building a community business, especially one based on recurring revenue and a regular influx of members, taking an extended pause from it all feels scary and impossible.
